Ferris Wheel Ultimate Wooden STEM Kit

Build a Ferris wheel that really turns. Assemble a detailed wooden model, then watch its gears transfer motion as the wheel rotates. It is a hands-on build with a finished project makers will be proud to show.

At a glance: Ages 10+  ·  About 90–120 minutes, depending on experience  ·  Moderate challenge  ·  2 AA batteries required (not included)

From wooden pieces to a working Ferris wheel

Build the structure, connect the gear system and see how the wheel moves. Along the way, explore how gears transfer motion, how balanced weight supports smooth rotation, and why a stable structure matters. It’s experiential learning in action: children build, test and think through what makes the model work. That hands-on problem-solving makes future-ready learning tangible.

What’s included

• Precision-cut wooden pieces, gears and the components to assemble a rotating Ferris wheel
• Screws, a screwdriver and a wax candle for lubricating the gears
• Step-by-step printed instructions and a video tutorial
• Group activity guide
• Ready-to-run classroom lesson plan with a student assignment and grading rubric

Just add two AA batteries. Everything else needed for assembly is included. Batteries are not included. The kit contains small parts, so adult supervision is required during assembly and use.

A memorable build for families and groups

Make it a project to build together at home, or bring the same hands-on experience to a group:

• School parent councils: host a STEM fundraiser or parent engagement event where families build together and take home their Ferris wheels.
• Home learning pods, learning centres and camps: run a hands-on STEM activity with a group guide, classroom assignment and grading rubric ready to use.
• Community organizations: bring children and families around the table for an engaging workshop or community event.
• Parents and event planners: make a STEM birthday party for ages 10+ feel creative, collaborative and memorable.

The kit can also support intergenerational recreation programs in senior living and care communities.
