Solar-Powered Teepee Ultimate Wooden STEM Kit

Let sunlight set your project in motion. Build a wooden solar-powered teepee, connect its panel and fan, then place the panel in direct sunlight to see the fan spin. It’s a clear, hands-on way to explore renewable energy.

At a glance: Ages 8+  ·  About 45–60 minutes, depending on experience  ·  Moderate challenge  ·  No batteries required

Follow the energy: sunlight to motion

The solar panel converts light into electrical energy that powers the fan. Try different light conditions and observe what changes. It’s experiential learning in action: build, test and reason through energy transfer. That hands-on problem-solving makes future-ready learning tangible.

What’s included

• Precision-cut wooden parts for the teepee structure
• Solar panel, fan mechanism and the components needed for the build
• Printed instructions, video guidance and a group activity guide

Direct sunlight works best for demonstrating the fan. The natural wood is paintable; paint is not included. Adult supervision is required because the kit contains small parts and electrical components.

A hands-on experience for families and groups

Build together at home, or bring the solar-powered teepee to a shared activity:

• School parent councils: host a STEM fundraiser or parent engagement event where families build together and take their projects home.
• Home learning pods, learning centres and camps: use the build as a group challenge about solar energy, circuits and motion.
• Community organizations: bring children and families together around a project they can see working.
• Parents and event planners: make a STEM birthday party for ages 8+ creative and memorable.
